A Norfolk dog trainer diagnosed with breast cancer last year has found an inspired way to raise funds for a cause close to home: she has been making dummies shaped like breasts and selling them for £10 each, with £5 from every sale going to breast cancer reconstruction charity Keeping Abreast.
Sharon Dingle, who trains, works and competes with Labradors, came up with the idea after her daughter Victoria Pigg joined Norwich-based Keeping Abreast as charity manager following Mrs Dingle’s surgery in June 2025. She has already raised nearly £2,000.
The dummies are made by Gamekeepers Goods, a small family company in Winchester, whose founder Sam Gould and her daughters designed the product after Mrs Dingle approached them. “The dummy is good visually for the dog when thrown but lands on its flat side, so the dog has to use its scenting ability to find it,” Mrs Dingle explained. “Dog trainers love it and so do the dogs.”
Keeping Abreast, which was founded in Norwich in 2007, supports those considering, facing or going through breast reconstruction surgery, with face-to-face groups across England and more than 200 volunteers offering phone, email and WhatsApp support.
“It’s a quality product with a fun theme for a good cause – everyone loves them,” said Mrs Dingle. Orders can be placed at sharon@bellspaddle.co.uk.
